The Fugative (VHS Movie) starring Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Joe Pantoliano, Sela Ward. Based on the Book by Roy Higgins. Rated PG-13, 131 min runtime.
Dr. Richard Kimble, a prominent Chicago vascular surgeon, arrives home to find his wife Helen fatally wounded by a one-armed man. Kimble struggles with the killer, but the killer escapes. The lack of evidence of a break-in, Helen's lucrative life insurance policy, and a misunderstood 9-1-1 call result in Kimble being convicted of first-degree murder. While Kimble is being transported to death row by bus, his fellow prisoners attempt an escape. The ensuing pandemonium sends the bus down a ravine and into the path of an oncoming train. After pulling one of the prison bus guards out of the path of an oncoming train, Kimble escapes the collision and flees. Deputy U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard and his colleagues Renfro, Biggs, Newman and Poole arrive at the crash site, realize that Kimble and another prisoner are missing, and begin a search. Kimble sneaks into an area hospital to treat his wounds and alter his appearance. He later eludes the authorities by sneaking into a culvert. After following Kimble into the culvert, Gerard drops his weapon and Kimble retrieves it. Kimble briefly holds Gerard at gunpoint and proclaims his innocence; Gerard tells him that he doesn't care, and Kimble flees again. Gerard again follows Kimble and--using a second firearm--corners him at the edge of a dam. Kimble leaps into the raging water far below, but survives and continues to flee the authorities.
