Frozen Roots by Ernest Oglsby, First Edition 2016, Ancient Sister Press. Paperback.
The anomaly was two miles down below the Antarctic Ice. To find it, Gabriel had needed help, resorting to a bribe using technology of his own devising to gain the aid of a drilling company who already had drilling rights in Antarctica. Now the location was known, it was only a matter of time before other parties were made aware. Gabriel’s activities were often monitored by the Sword of Solomon, and once word got back of this discovery, Achille Ratti, nominal head of the Council of Vampires made his opinions quite clear. It could not be allowed to see the light of day. Gabriel himself was now expendable. The truce was off, but no one had told Gabriel. In his haste to find and explore the anomaly, Gabriel had been shortsighted enough to promise the patent for his new sonic drill to the drilling company. He had designed it for only one purpose, but one of the designers belonging to the drilling company saw it’s potential as a WMD, and one which could change the balance of power in the South Atlantic. As Gabriel and Nathaniel brave the sub zero temperatures of the Antarctic, and the unknown assassin tracking him, Laura tries to protect his invention from falling into the hands of the Argentine Special Forces. Her only allies are a small cadre of Special Boat Service on a mission to combat piracy off the South American coastline, and when the freighter she is on is hijacked, they track the vessel up one of the Amazon river tributaries.
